3. Understanding custom order status:

In addition to the Magento 2 default order status, users are able to create their own custom order status to assign to order states. By expanding the native Magento 2 functionality to make more informative order status, it supports the processing procedure and makes it maximally clear for both the store admins and store customers. Customers can easily track their orders. Magento 2 allows users to do that with the Order Status extension. The customers can also be notified automatically or manually about the changes you have made to your store.

According to your specific requirement, you can create and display as many order status as you want to. The email templates can also be assigned to different store view. Furthermore, automatically emails sent to the customers can help you build up customers’ trust and encourage the repeated purchases. Specifically, Magento 2 allows you to assign custom status to default order states. It is possible to assign one single order status to multiple stages but hiding the stages as displaying status.
